I regularly harassed Dozzy about this in hopes he had plans for it, but after almost a decade of being questioned he told me to just put it out myself, provided I was doing a track for the B-side. Knowing full well I couldn't make anything nearly as gorgeous as Donato's underwater techno groover here, I decided to go for something a bit more upbeat and party friendly, all the while as wiggly as the masters' contribution. For several weeks, Mullaert spent most of his time at Kontra-Musik’s home base Inkonst, an old chocolate factory turned cultural hub in the busy urban area of Möllan, Malmö city. Working in solitude outside the venue's usual hours, he built his live rig in front of the PA, right in the middle of the dance floor. This figurative role reversal between a dancer and performer allowed him to fully immerse himself in a perspective as close as possible to that of the audience during the process of creation. Mullaert’s recording studio lies deep within a beautiful forest in the south of Sweden, a setting which has increasingly made its mark on his music: lush, green and spacious. It’s a lovely place that makes for equally lovely music, but contentment is art’s worst enemy. The complete displacement during the recording process of this album has affected his music profoundly. Mullaert’s usually wide horizon of green hills and tall beech wood is more condensed and focused here, taking the form of urban patterns of life. Shades of longing and melancholy run through the album and those hazy ambient parts are no longer modelled on morning mist, they are exuding from smoke machines. The album is an exploration of improvisation, an approach that has become far more than a method for Mullaert: For him this is a way of encountering the present. The tracks are expressions of chance; collisions and collaborations of sound waves caught in the moment by Mullaert, like snapshots of fleeting harmony. The thematics are always distinct but at the same time ever morphing, pulsating and breathing like living entities. As the music changes we accordingly change with it. New patterns of movement and thought emerge and we improvise to keep up. This is the concept of dancing in its purest form, but also of meditation. A place called • Inkonst is made for both. A place called • Inkonst is Sebastian Mullaert’s hommage to improvisation - an approach that is central to his work as a musician, as well as his critically acclaimed Circle Of Live event series concept he launched last year. The here and now is always in a state of flux, so improvising is the only true way to experience the present. Tornado 02. 303 Weirdos 03. Ditador 04. Tetris Korpus 9 continues to serve up the finest space techno with a new EP from Robert S. It features four of his fantastic tracks and really takes you on a trip. Tornado opens up with deep drums that urge late into the night on frazzled synth lines. It's a real adventure, then 303 Weirdos has a soft acid line lacing up the supple, rubbery drums. Heedy and physical, it's a real hypnotic roller. Ditador then layers up more sci-fi melodic rain which rolls down over the firmly rooted drums. It's one to get the crowd in a trance and take them to the next dimension. Tetris then gets freaky with weird synth patterns looping over and over as rugged drums march below. This is an expressive and evocative EP of first class techno. After back to back sets at the likes of fabric in London, Tresor in Berlin and Culture Box in Copenhagen, the connection between these two artists was firmly cemented. This lead to their first studio collaboration ‘Nerinea Trinodosa’ which appeared on Fossil Archive 006 in 2017. The studio process felt very natural, with each artist assuming different roles. Forbidden Level (Digital Bonus) Founded in early 2016 by Eyth, Osse, Mehdi Hammemi and Clotur in Tunisia, Warok Music’s journey as the country’s first experimental techno and ambient imprint has seen the label become a hub and central platform for contemporary electronic exploration across the ambient and techno sphere, curating and cultivating a series of EPs from like-minded artists looking to express themselves and present their work whilst releasing material from the likes of JC Laurent, Farceb and more. Making his production debut in the same year, co-founder Clotur has been at the heart of the label’s evolution whilst simultaneously releasing material via Fabrik Musik, Northallsen, Lett Records and of course his home imprint. Now based in Paris yet still pushing the rapidly rising scene in Tunisia via both his own solo DJ sets and Warok showcases, here we see the next step in his musical evolution as he reveals his ‘Dimensions Doors’ EP, the first instalment in the label’s vinyl series, whilst welcoming Taapion co-founder AWB and fellow Parisian BLDNR to the imprint as they both turn in impressive remixes to complete the expansive package. True to form, the EP opens with the rolling kicks of digital bonus ‘Portal Opening’, a trippy exploration of shifting ambiences and rhythmic sonics, before AWB’s broken beat interpretation layers the original’s rich ambiences over murky, low-slung percussion. Next, ‘Irregular Frequencies’ pulls even further into the portal, with a relentless, rubbery synth squelching over driving percussion, before ‘Hyperspace Travel’ marches forth with galloping kicks and rippling resonant synths. BLNDR’s remix follows, building on the sweeping textures and diving into a series of trippy, hypnotic loops, before bringing the energy back down and closing out proceedings with second digital only cut ‘Forbid Follow Clotur here: https://soundcloud.com/clotur https://www.instagram.com/clotur_warok/ https://www.facebook.com/clotur.wrk/ https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/clotur Follow Warok Music here: https://soundcloud.com/warok-music https://www.instagram.com/warok_music/ https://www.facebook.com/warokmusic/ ___ DISCLAIMER: All tracks are uploaded in a low quality for promotional purposes only and with buy links to respect label and artists. Noncompliant – More Than Surviving (Ambivalent Remix)

More Than Surviving - Valence - VAL008 https://www.beatport.com/release/more-than-surviving/1959091 https://soundcloud.com/djshiva https://soundcloud.com/ambivalent DJ Shiva brings her Noncompliant alias to Valence in March 2017 with the More Than Surviving EP. Described by longtime friend & fan The Black Madonna as "one of the most exciting producers in techno", Shiva's Noncompliant alias is as defiant in sound as it is in name. Leading with the title track, which featured in The Black Madonna's Mixmag cover mix in January 2017, the EP features two more original tracks, informed by Alan Moore's V For Vendetta and poet Adrienne Rich respectively. Valence label head Kevin McHugh completes the package with an Ambivalent remix. ---- "Noncompliant is about daring to be who you are instead of who others expect you to be, even when (and maybe especially when) being yourself is dangerous. It is a name and a project very much based in queerness and feminism, and though I started the project last year, it has become even more relevant to me now that we are living in the Trump regime. "More Than Surviving is about how we live in times of crisis. We have to find joy and love and goodness even when we are fighting to survive. In fact, sometimes those are the things that keep us fighting, that make it worth fighting in the first place. "The Very Last Inch of Us is based on a quote from V for Vendetta: 'Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us. But within that inch we are free.' Once again, being true to ourselves is sometimes all we have, and it's worth fighting for. "More Howl, More Keening is from an Adrienne Rich poem about death. We all will deal with loss, both in the fights we have and also of the people we love. When we lose either, we have to approach it with as much passion as we do living."
INDY NYLES - BLK SOL (BLK SYSTM EP)
Sirena Negra Records (Sirena Negra Records)

INDY NYLES - BLK SOL (BLK SYSTM EP)

INDY NYLES - BLK SOL Purchase: US: https://indynyles.bandcamp.com/ Indy Nyles who graced Santo Sangre’s first release on the Sirena Negra label with his percussive remix of “Quetzal” returns to the imprint with a release of his own. On his BLK SYSTM EP Nyles delivers four tracks of contemporary sounding techno. Track one, “BLK HRT” is a fluid amalgam of rolling, glassy synth tones — not unlike those in Robert Hood’s “Detroit: One Circle” — tough, tribal-accented drums, and a coarse, grating and metallic bass line. This one will work the floor and be a great addition to any self-respecting techno DJ’s set. “BLK MND” is an exercise in similar territory as the previous track but some of the rough corners are shaved off to allow room for a snaking acid line that begins to emerge a mere 30 seconds in. Hollow, clicking synth tones, which sound like plastic billiard balls hitting each other, fly around the 303 squelch in a naggingly and orderly manner. The beat is a simple kick drum march that gives the acid the space to really do its thing. It is soon joined by haunting strings that widen the extent of its squelch while bringing a dreamy quality to the track that will make it a winner on any crowded dance floor at 4 AM, or any hour for that matter. Track three is “BLK SOL,” a shuffling, rolling, acid track, which lacks a conventional four to the floor kick but is still a fantastic beat tool for the creative DJ. It has the structure of broken beat coupled with the percussive approach of the Afro-accented house that appeared in the late ‘90s but expressed through techno textures and pulsing acid. It could be the perfect accompaniment to Nyles's remix from the previous Sirena Negra release. The EP closes with “BLK SYSTM,” which features a gorgeous, lush, beatless intro, like the stunning opening segments that used to grace Detroit tracks of yore. At the 1 minute and 32 seconds mark this blissful ambience gives way to a ritual beating system that bounds energetically through a circling swarm of melodic, delicate keys. This one deserves a damned good rinsing again and again and again. Sirena Negra’s second release is another reason to get excited about this fledgling label and makes it an imprint to watch in the future. --Christopher Orr Credits: released February 14, 2019 Engineered by Indy Nyles Mixed and Mastered by Mark Pistel @Room5 Pressed by Single Line Follow Us: https://soundcloud.com/sirenanegrarecords https://www.instagram.com/sirenanegrasf/

F--K 6-6 (Trip Report Mix)

buy: https://thebunkerny.bandcamp.com/album/15-years-of-the-bunker All tracks are brand new and exclusive to this compilation. "After nearly 15 years of operation, The Bunker has mastered the art of curating lineups that strike a balance between the challenging and the danceable. Also, their persistent focus on showcasing locally-bred artists makes every party feel like a reunion. In a clubbing landscape crowded with nights that either recycle old ideas or try too hard to do something new, The Bunker is that rare event that gets it just right.” - Resident Advisor In January of 2003, The Bunker started as a weekly party at subTonic in the Lower East Side of New York, sometimes attracting mere dozens of people every Friday for the first year. Fifteen years later it’s grown beyond an established party to encompass a record label, long-running podcast series, radio show, North American booking agency, and is now an internationally respected techno institution. In the past few years, we’ve watched our resident DJs go from local heroes to busy touring artists and have presented The Bunker parties around the world in places we never thought that we’d go to much less play. To celebrate our 15 years of existence, we present this 26 track, 3+ hour compilation of artists from The Bunker NY label, our agency roster, and a few new members of the family. Most of these artists you should already know, but we’re very proud to present the debut productions from rrao, Abby Echiverri, Coward, and LDY OSC., all of whom have been involved in The Bunker community for years.

Impulse Ann Arbor Documentary

A film by Jordan Stanton Synopsis: Through the voices of internationally-acclaimed musicians and the student voices of the Michigan Electronic Music Collective (MEMCO), Impulse Ann Arbor tells a part of the unique story of Ann Arbor’s underground electronic music scene. Situated a short drive from Detroit, the birthplace of techno, Ann Arbor is home to a rich tradition of electronic musicians, DJs, and event-goers who played a role in the Midwest’s dance music revolution. Spread through word of mouth, black fraternity networks, and the airwaves, techno slowly seeped into Ann Arbor’s radio stations, record stores, and clubs. In the late 80s and early 90s, Ann Arbor slowly became an incubator for the region’s burgeoning scene, developing its own soon-to-be superstar DJs. Nearly four decades after the birth of techno, student organizations like the MEMCO have kept this musical tradition alive; Punchy kick drums and driving bass-lines pulsate through Ann Arbor’s basements, clubs, and airwaves, conjuring echoes of the past and moving new generations of dancers and DJs. Impulse Ann Arbor explores the electronic music culture of Ann Arbor as a uniquely young revolution, kept alive by inspired students of the past and present. Professional DJs lay a framework for understanding Ann Arbor’s past relationship with electronic music while younger students and Ann Arborites delve deeper into city’s relationship with electronic music now. Younger generation of DJs grapple with questions of what it means to be a DJ in the wake of this region’s rich past while while making an impact on the future.
